GARY

OWSTON

Gary teaches Vocal Health and Vocal Variety at BRAVA. 

​

He trained as an actor and graduated with a BA in Theatre Arts at The Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama in 1985. He went on to enjoy a successful career as an actor, appearing in Shakespeare at the London Old Vic, regional theatres and TV.  Gary gained a national diploma in Voice Studies at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London in 1991. He worked as a voice coach and actor for two years in America.

 

Since returning to the UK, Gary has taught in many leading drama schools including RADA, LAMDA, GSA, Central, Rose Bruford, Royal Welsh, Guidhall, Mountview, East 15, Arts Ed, Webber Douglas and ALRA.  He has worked with many well known actors including Josh O Connor from the Crown and Faye Marsay from Game of Thrones.

Recent dialect work includes productions at Bristol Theatre Royal, Bath Theatre Royal, Royal Welsh National Theatre, Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory Bristol, BBC, ITV and Channel 4. Gary is also director and principal of Bristol Acting Academy and runs acting courses at Bristol Old Vic.
